Fish is an important item of people living in Coastal States and fisheries are confined to Gujarat, Malabar Coast, Gulf of Mannar and Tamil Nadu. The variet­ies on Indian shores are herring, mackerel, prawns, mullets, etc. Fish resource is renewable.
